This close proximity to South America was a surprising revelation when we first set sail on the Carnival Vista! My only desire upon leaving was to immediately return and plunge into one of those stunning infinity pools overlooking the gorgeous, azure Caribbean waters. Snack & Sip at Mundo Bizarro Cafe

During our exploration of Pietermaai, we made an essential stop at Mundo Bizarro Cafe – a truly unique and wonderfully quirky establishment that I wish we had more time to fully savor. As its name, “Bizarre World,” suggests, stepping inside is like entering a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors, eclectic decor, and mosaic-tiled floors. Every corner tells a story, from the art-filled walls to the intricately tiled bar, creating an atmosphere that is both playful and inviting. Mundo Bizarro offers delicious, simple food, perfect for a mid-day snack or a relaxing coffee break. It’s an experience that transcends mere dining, immersing you in a world of artistic expression and laid-back Caribbean charm. Don’t just grab a bite; absorb the funky vibes and incredible attention to detail that make this cafe a highlight of Pietermaai.

Belgian Beer & Bites at Scuba Lodge Restaurant & Bar

After your delightful snack at Mundo Bizarro, continue your journey through Pietermaai’s colorful rows of buildings and charming hidden alleys, making your way directly to Rock Beach. Here, you’ll discover the enchanting Scuba Lodge Restaurant & Bar, an absolute must-visit for its incredible Belgian beer selection and delectable food. We indulged in the Rundvleesbitterballen – perfectly crispy beef croquettes served with a tangy mustard – a truly authentic taste of Dutch/Belgian cuisine. While we didn’t try them, the cheese balls stuffed with Gouda also looked incredibly tempting and come highly recommended.

Pair these savory bites with a refreshing Leffe beer, and you’ll instantly feel transported back to Belgium, yet with an undeniably tropical twist. Imagine sipping your beer, the waves gently crashing against the wall just meters away, while small crabs scuttle playfully across the rocks. The unique fusion of European flavors in such a stunning oceanfront setting is simply unreal. The relaxed, vibrant atmosphere, combined with the distinctive culinary experience, made Scuba Lodge one of my absolute favorite spots on the island, offering a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.

Cocktails with a View at Saint Tropez Ocean Club

Just next door to Scuba Lodge, you’ll discover the Saint Tropez Ocean Club, which offers a distinctly more opulent yet equally inviting ambiance. This all-white patio, elegantly adorned with bursts of bright magenta bougainvillea, presented us with an entirely new facet of the island’s sophisticated side. The club boasts an array of fun, refreshing cocktails, each perfectly crafted to complement the stunning ocean backdrop and the gentle, calming breeze.

Saint Tropez Ocean Club is one of those special places where you feel incredibly chic and luxurious, yet completely at ease and approachable. The highlight for many is the breathtaking infinity pool, which seamlessly blends into the horizon of the vibrant blue Caribbean Sea. My only regret was not having my swimsuit to take full advantage of this spectacular feature. Whether you’re there for a leisurely cocktail, a light snack, or simply to soak in the exclusive yet welcoming atmosphere, Saint Tropez Ocean Club provides an unforgettable experience, making you wish your perfect day in Curaçao would never end.

As your perfect day in Curaçao draws to a close and you make your way back towards Rif Fort – an excellent spot for some last-minute souvenir shopping – don’t forget to grab some truly irresistible crispy street fries. You’ll find a charming little stand conveniently located on the port side of the city, just after you cross the main bridge. This is your final opportunity to savor a delightful taste of European street food tradition, echoing the island’s Dutch heritage.

These aren’t just any fries; they’re served with an incredible array of sauces that are staples in Belgium and the Netherlands, such as savory Curry Ketchup and the slightly spicy Samurai Sauce.
